Corrections Policy
Aana Avanna is committed to accuracy. When we make errors, we correct them promptly, transparently and without attempting to obscure what was wrong.
How we handle corrections
When a factual error is identified in an article, we will:
- Correct the error in the published text as soon as possible after it is verified.
- Add a correction note at the foot of the article stating what was changed and when, unless the error was a minor typographical mistake that does not affect meaning.
- Not silently delete or rewrite content in a way that obscures the original error.
Types of correction
Factual corrections apply where a stated fact — a date, name, institution, historical claim or attribution — is demonstrably wrong. These are always noted.
Clarifications apply where the original text was not wrong but was ambiguous or could be read in a misleading way. These are noted where the ambiguity was significant.
Updates apply where information was accurate at the time of publication but has since changed — for example, census data or legislation. These are noted with the date of update.
Typographical and formatting corrections are made silently where they do not affect the meaning of the content.
How to report an error
If you believe something we have published is factually incorrect, please contact us via our contact page. Please include:
- The title or URL of the article concerned.
- The specific claim you believe is incorrect.
- A source or explanation supporting your correction.
We review all correction requests and aim to respond within five working days.
Editorial disputes
Where a correction request relates to a matter of interpretation, editorial judgement or contested historical evidence rather than a clear factual error, we will consider the submission carefully but are not obliged to amend content on the basis of disagreement alone.
